RITUELS

Maxi-HaÏku - Rituels

“RITUELS” brings together on stage a top-quality vocal ensemble, the quartet of musicians from La Forge, and a special guest, flutist Naïssam Jalal. Conceived and produced for “Jazz sur le grill” with amateur choirs, we sensed the potential of the subject.

We’d like to continue our work and develop this unique repertoire for vocal ensembles. That’s why, on a national level, we submit our project to the best professional or semi-professional choirs in a given town or region, to propose the revival and continuation of “RITUELS” adapted to the ensemble, augmented by new writing.

“RITUELS” is an imaginary, non-exhaustive journey through our habits and customs, from all eras and latitudes. It’s a free-form, original piece of writing that draws inspiration, evokes, takes its cue from our social and personal rituals.

Rites in the broadest sense of the term: the African voodoo choir, the collective fervor of the procession, the healer’s song, the ritual of passage in Latin America, the work song, the personal, pantheistic cult of Albert Camus returning to the land of his childhood, or more prosaically, the weekly rehearsal rite for the amateur musician, etc. The subject questions the spectator, who is both an individual and a member of the audience. Everyone feels, de facto, concerned by the subject, as if we were talking a little about them, a little about ourselves.

Professional artistic supervision is provided by the four composers of the La Forge collective, who are responsible for writing the program, musical accompaniment and final production. Naïssam Jalal seemed the perfect choice to be our special guest for this creation.
